RAJOURI, Aug 22: Mohd Ayaz Raina, Lecturer in Botany at Government Higher Secondary School, Dalhori, Rajouri, has been selected for the National Award to Teachers 2026, becoming the only teacher from Jammu and Kashmir to receive the honour this year.
The award will be presented on Teachers’ Day, September 5.
Raina’s selection recognises his 13 years of dedicated service and contribution to the field of education. The honour has brought pride to Rajouri and the wider education fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly highlighting the work of teachers serving in remote and challenging areas.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Raina said the award was not merely a personal achievement but a recognition of the collective efforts of his students, fellow teachers, educational institutions and family members who supported him throughout his journey.
Raina has previously received several honours, including the National ICT Award 2017, J&K UT Best Teacher Award 2021, Global Teacher Award 2021 and Global Best Educational Poster Award 2020.
His selection for the national honour has been widely seen as a recognition of his sustained efforts towards improving education and encouraging innovation among students.
