NTA Warns NEET-UG Candidates Against Submitting Fake, AI-Generated OMR Sheets
New Delhi, Jul 19: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has cautioned NEET-UG 2026 candidates and their parents against submitting fake or AI-generated OMR sheets while raising complaints over score discrepancies, warning that such acts could invite legal action. The advisory was issued after the agency reviewed several complaints regarding differences between candidates’ expected and declared NEET-UG 2026 scores. During the verification process, the NTA found that many of the OMR sheets submitted for scrutiny appeared to be forged or generated using artificial intelligence. “NTA is closely monitoring and scrutinising all complaints. Students and parents are advised to submit only original OMR sheets for verification. Any fake or AI-generated OMR may invite legal action against the complainant,” the agency said. The NEET-UG 2026 results were declared on July 16, with around 11.21 lakh candidates qualifying the examination. The original exam, held on May 3, was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the matter, and the examination was re-conducted on June 21. In the wake of the controversy, the Centre has announced that future editions of NEET-UG will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode instead of the traditional pen-and-paper format. NEET-UG is India’s largest undergraduate medical entrance examination, with nearly 25 lakh candidates registering each year for admission to MBBS and other undergraduate medical courses across the country.
