NEW DELHI, SEPT 16: Punjab all-rounder Naman Dhir and Jammu & Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi have earned their maiden call-ups to India’s ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against the West Indies.
The national selection panel has also recalled veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, while Nitish Kumar Reddy has been withdrawn from the Asian Games squad to join the ODI team.
India are scheduled to play three ODIs and five T20Is against the West Indies, with the series beginning on September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram.
Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has not been included in the ODI squad as he continues to work towards proving his bowling fitness. According to the report, Pandya is expected to be declared fit on September 20, but the selectors want him to demonstrate that he can bowl 10 overs for India A before considering him for the ODI side.
Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has also been left out of the ODI squad.
Dhir's selection comes after impressive performances in domestic cricket for Punjab and during the IPL for Mumbai Indians. His all-round abilities have earned him his first opportunity at the international level.
Jammu & Kashmir seamer Auqib Nabi has also been rewarded for his recent performances. The pacer impressed during his stint with Surrey in the English County Championship, earning his maiden call-up to India's ODI setup.
