Jitendra Singh Chairs 14th BRICS Science, Technology And Innovation Ministerial Meet

CHENNAI, Aug 21: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr Jitendra Singh, on Friday chaired the 14th BRICS Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Ministerial Meeting in Chennai.

The meeting was held as part of India’s BRICS Chairship 2026 under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”

The ministerial meeting followed the 16th BRICS STI Senior Officials’ Meeting, held in Chennai on August 19 and 20 and hosted by IIT Madras in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology.

The two-day deliberations reviewed the progress of BRICS STI working groups, priority areas and proposals of member countries, the BRICS STI Framework Programme and upcoming initiatives, including the BRICS Young Scientist Forum and Young Innovator’s Prize.

Dr Jitendra Singh also hosted a dinner for the BRICS Science Ministers and their delegations, providing an opportunity for informal bilateral interactions with visiting dignitaries.

He highlighted India’s recent achievements in science, technology and innovation and emphasised the importance of strengthening international cooperation for global benefit.
