Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia Leave 73 Injured

CAIRO, Sep 8: A wave of attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels on Saudi Arabia early Tuesday left 73 people injured, Saudi authorities said.

Maj. Gen. Turki al-Malki, spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen, said the Houthis targeted “civilian and economic facilities” in the Saudi cities of Abha, Jazan, Najran and Khamis Mushait.

He said the Saudi-led coalition would take “all necessary operational measures” to deter the Houthi militia with utmost resolve.

The attacks followed accusations by the Houthis that Saudi Arabia had carried out a strike on a prison in Yemen's northern Jawf province.

The latest escalation comes amid weeks of intensified fighting between the Houthis and Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces, bringing an end to a four-year truce in Yemen's long-running civil war.
