NEW DELHI, Aug 25: With H1N1 cases increasing in the national capital, doctors and health experts have warned that children, elderly people, pregnant women and those suffering from chronic illnesses are at greater risk of developing severe infection.
Delhi has recorded more than 2,300 Influenza-A cases this year, including over 1,777 H1N1 cases till Friday, according to health department data. As many as 114 H1N1 cases were reported on Thursday alone.
Doctors have stressed the importance of preventive measures and vaccination, particularly for people belonging to vulnerable groups.
“The rise in H1N1 cases has brought preventive vaccination back into the conversation,” said Dr Bharat Gopal, senior director of respiratory and sleep medicine at Medanta Mediclinic, Defence Colony and Medanta-The Medicity.
Health experts have urged people to remain alert to flu symptoms and take appropriate precautions to reduce the risk of infection, especially among high-risk groups.
