BJP Defers Srinagar Secretariat Gherao March Amid Flood Emergency In Rajouri, Poonch

Srinagar, Jul 19: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday postponed its proposed Secretariat Gherao March at Lal Chowk, Srinagar, which was scheduled to be held on July 20, in view of the devastating flood situation in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. The party said the decision was taken following heavy rainfall, flash floods and the resulting loss of lives and extensive damage to property in the twin districts. According to the BJP, a fresh date for the protest march will be announced after reviewing the prevailing situation. Expressing concern over the humanitarian crisis triggered by the floods, the party said relief, rescue and rehabilitation efforts should remain the immediate priority during this challenging time.
