Earlier, officials had put the number of injured at five.\r\n\r\nThe details of the FIR were not known immediately.\r\n\r\nThe rescue operation was launched on Wednesday evening after the four-storey building that was under construction collapsed amid heavy rain.\r\n\r\nIn an official statement, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Shashank Jaiswal said, \u201cDuring the operation, one labourer, identified as Saddam alias Ravi (32), was pulled out alive from the debris and shifted for treatment.\u201d\r\n\r\nHe said three bodies were recovered during the rescue operation. The deceased were identified as Ram (42), a local tailor; Kafe alias Nurul (24), a labourer; and Ram Dua (62), the father of the building owner.\r\n\r\nRam was taken to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The other two bodies were pulled out from the debris during the prolonged search operation, the DCP said.\r\n\r\nThe rescue operation is almost complete. Debris removal is underway to ensure that no one else is trapped, the statement said.\r\n\r\nAn FIR has been registered in connection with the incident and the exact cause of the collapse is under investigation, Jaiswal said.\r\n\r\nThe building collapsed around 4.20 pm on Wednesday at property no. The other two measures\u2014maximising LPG production by diverting petrochemical feedstock and restricting diesel sales to bulk consumers\u2014had already been withdrawn as supplies normalised.\r\n\r\nIndia, the world\u2019s third-largest importer and consumer of crude oil, imports nearly 88 per cent of its crude oil requirements and about half of its natural gas demand. Shukla also noted that the Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) programme, launched in 2018, was developed through extensive consultations with stakeholders and that oil marketing companies adhere to prescribed quality standards.\r\n\r\n\u201cThere is absolutely no gap in the scientific methodology used to determine these standards,\u201d she said.\r\n\r\nMaruti Suzuki India Senior Executive Officer (Corporate Affairs) Rahul Bharti said owners of vehicles manufactured before 2023, when E20-compatible vehicles became mandatory, need not worry about using the higher ethanol blend.\r\n\r\n\u201cWe have tested E10 cars, which were prevalent before 2023, on E20 fuel across all parameters, and we have not found anything of concern,\u201d Bharti said.\r\n\r\nHe added that the company observed no significant issues related to wear and tear, corrosion, or the lifespan of engine components exposed to E20 fuel.\r\n\r\nToyota Kirloskar Motor Country Head and Executive Vice President (Corporate Affairs and Governance) Vikram Gulati described ethanol as a cleaner-burning, high-performance fuel that can significantly strengthen India\u2019s energy security by reducing reliance on imported oil.\r\n\r\nReferring to recent disruptions in global energy supplies, Gulati said the developments served as a reminder of India\u2019s vulnerability due to its dependence on energy imports.\r\n\r\nHe further noted that ethanol, produced from plant-based feedstock, is a \u201czero-carbon fuel\u201d that has been used for years in high-performance applications, including motor racing.
